The story
Max Marine spent seven years as a VC in Tel Aviv before leaving the sidelines to build. His mission: find an economically viable way to scale gratitude. What started as a Grateful Giraffes NFT community — and a vinyl-wrapped bus asking strangers "what are you grateful for?" — evolved, after a crypto crash, into a real-life invite-only community in Venice, California.
Today Grateful Giraffes is 1,000+ members, 500+ events, and nearly $1M in community-first revenue. The turning point was Base44. In a single afternoon Max stood up "Oasis" — the community's own app — moving events, RSVPs, potlucks, donations, and an entire AI Bootcamp with an affiliate program onto one platform. Base44 is now the back end for all of it, powering $100K+ in commerce and counting.
